Bethan joined the group in January 2020 as a postdoctoral research associate. Bethan graduated from Durham University in 2013 with an MPhys in Physics; her final year project investigated the efficiencies of dye-sensitized photovoltaic devices. After her studies she volunteered as a Maths teacher in India before moving to London, working as an analyst in the energy industry.
In 2015 she decided to move back to science, completing a Master of Research degree and then PhD at the University of Bath with Dr Daniel Wolverson, Prof. Chick Wilson and Prof. Mark Weller. As part of her PhD Bethan spent a term at the Ludwig-Maximilian University of Munich working in the group of Prof. Jochen Feldmann. Her work focused on the structure-property relationships of hybrid-halide perovskites for use in photovoltaics.
Bethan’s work will be focusing on characterizing and understanding the behaviour of luminescent solar downshifters.
