Tom joined the group as a PhD in 2018 as part of the EPSRC CDT in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, following an MASt in Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics from the University of Cambridge and an MSci in Natural Sciences (Physics and Physical Chemistry) from University College London. Before pursuing a PhD in materials chemistry, Tom studied high energy particle physics, with research placements at CERN and the California Institute of Technology. In his spare time, Tom enjoys science outreach, rock climbing and playing the cello.
Tom’s research explores the self-assembly of colloidal systems and their control using azobenzene photosurfactants. Tom is co-supervised by Dr Evans and Dr Silvia Vignolini in the Department of Chemistry.
