Thomas Southern

Tom joined the group as a PhD student in October 2017, after completing his MSci in Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge. Outside of the lab, Tom enjoys playing board games and volunteering as part of St John Ambulance.

Current Research

Tom’s research focuses on the design and characterisation of polymer membranes for environmental remediation. His work includes the use of small molecules to template hierarchical structure using various methods of membrane synthesis. His characterisation work includes the use of X-ray computer tomography to study the properties of membranes in 3D.
