Takashi recently attained Chartered Scientist (CSci) status through the IOM3 for effective leadership throughout his research career so far. This was assessed by portfolio across five areas: (1) application of knowledge and understanding, (2) personal responsibility, (3) interpersonal skills, (4) professional practice and (5) professional standards. This achievement builds upon his recent recognition as a Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA) for his broad contributions to teaching and learning support across the university. Well done Takashi – the PAM team are very proud of you!

Welcome Larissa!

We are delighted to welcome Larissa Gomes Franca to the group as a research assistant on the ERC SPECTRACON project.
Originally from Brazil, Larissa carried out her PhD research on the photophysics of TADF materials at the University of Durham under the supervision Prof. Andy Monkman.
In the PAM group she will be investing TTA-UC in self-assembled materials. Welcome Larissa!
Goodbye and congratulations Joshua!

We say au revoir to Dr Joshu Karlsson, who leaves the group this month. Joshu has been with us just a short time working on the ERC SPECTRACON project but has made significant contributions in managing and training users in the spectroscopy lab, as well as several research projects in the TTA-UC and luminescence downshifting work packages.
Sad news for us, but excellent news for Joshua as he will be joining Tampere University in Finland starting September 2023 as a research fellow at the Tampere Institute for Advanced Study (IAS). There he will undertake his first independent research project studying the photostability of light absorbers for emerging solar cells technologies. We wish you lots of success and look forward to seeing the great things you do. Good luck!
