Jack Avery

Biography

Jack joined the group as a PhD student in October 2022. He graduated in 2020 with a First Class MPhys from Cardiff University. Previously working for Oxford Instruments – Magnetic Resonance for two years servicing NMR Spectroscopy equipment.

Outside of the lab, Jack enjoys climbing, hiking and exploring new places.

Current Research

Jack is undertaking a joint PhD studentship with ISIS Neutron and Muon Source, Harwell, Oxford. Jack’s research is focused on determining the key structure-function relationships that enable the design of light-responsive Pickering emulsions. His work will advance capabilities of techniques used by the SANS group at ISIS and sample environments available to ISIS users (ultrasound stage with light-exposure), while new scientific understanding will open up potential applications for Pickering emulsions across different sectors.
