Shomik joined the group as an MPhil student in October 2019. He graduated from Duke University in May 2019 with a BSE in Mechanical Engineering. Outside of lab, Shomik enjoys playing an Indian classical percussion instrument called the tabla and reading science fiction novels.
Shomik focuses on additive manufacturing of luminescent solar concentrators with the end goal of improving the optical efficiency of LSCs. Through both experimentation and modeling, Shomik investigates light transport pathways and hopes to use novel manufacturing techniques to improve light extraction.
